PD Tandon’s Vauxhall Car

PD Tandon bought a Vauxhall car in 1947 for Rs. 8000/- A four door sedan Vauxhall is a vintage beauty. Only driven by PD and his son RK, it was a participant of vintage car rallies.

Fondly termed as Basanti by great grand sons Siddharth and Varun and grand niece Parnika, what is more special about  Vauxhall is that it had the privilege of having four prime ministers, one President, Governors and Chief Ministers as its riders. Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shashtri, Indira Gandhi, VP Singh, VV Giri, Kamlapati Tripathi, Hemvati Nandan Bahugana and ND Tiwari had graced this vehicle along with PD.
